HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam is committed to creating favourable conditions for Japanese businesses to invest in the country, Prime Minister Nguyễn Xuân Phúc told Kanji Hayama, former president of the Japan’s Taisei Corp., in Hà Nội yesterday.
Recalling the company’s efforts in handling the collapse of the Cần Thơ Bridge 10 years ago, Phúc lauded Taisei’s contributions to Việt Nam’s socio-economic growth via its construction of many large-scale infrastructure projects.
He said Việt Nam highly values its extensive strategic partnership with Japan, which is the country’s leading ODA provider and 4th biggest trade partner. Japan is also the second biggest foreign investor in Việt Nam.
Phúc expressed his hope that Taisei will continue its good performance in Việt Nam, thereby enhancing Việt Nam – Japan ties.
Hayama expressed his gratitude for support from the Vietnamese Government for his company’s operation in the country, particularly in dealing with the collapse of the Cần Thơ Bridge.
He said he visits Việt Nam every year to pay tribute to victims of the accident.
Hayama said he believes that Taisei’s fully committed to support the future development of Việt Nam. — VNS
