Top leader welcomes Lao Minister of Public Security

HÀ NỘI — Party General Secretary, President Nguyễn Phú Trọng hosted a reception in Hà Nội on Wednesday for Secretary of the Lao People’s Revolutionary Party Central Committee and Minister of Public Security Vilay Lakhamfong.

Minister Lilay Lakhamfong congratulated Việt Nam on its important achievements in recent times and expressed his delight at the development of the Laos-Việt Nam solidarity, which has brought about practical benefits for both peoples.

Relaying to the host details of Laos’ recent situation, national security and the outcomes of talks between the two public security ministries, he said the Lao ministry would co-ordinate closely with the Vietnamese side to carry out signed co-operation agreements.

Hailing the significance of the visit by the newly accredited Lao Minister of Public Security, the Vietnamese Party and State leader said the Lao ministry has contributed to the development of the Việt Nam-Laos relationship.

Speaking on the outcomes of the talks, as well as on co-operation between the two ministries, he said their relationship deserved to be a pillar of the two countries’ ties.

He asked both sides to maintain close co-ordination in protecting national security and maintaining social order. He also requested they step up information exchanges and support each other at regional and international forums on crime prevention and control, especially for cross-border crimes. — VNS
